  •  Gibel Penjo was domineering in Foncha street’s attack, as the side lost by one goal to three to Aigle Royal of Moungo in Japoma.
  •  The ex legend football Academy striker played all 90+ minutes for coach Mbaboh Moses’s side, causing two free kicks outside the 18yard area, in their debut match of the season.
  • The game against Aigle was his first elite two match.

Gibel Penjo Muh, a former star of Legend Football Academy, has made his debut for Foncha Street FC in the Elite Two Championship.

The young striker, who joined the club in October 2023, was part of the starting lineup that faced Aigle Royal of Moungo at the Japoma Annex Stadium on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Despite his impressive performance, Foncha Street FC suffered a 1-3 defeat against the host.

Known for his ability to create set piece opportunities for his team, he demonstrated his skill and flair in the match against Aigle Royale du Moungo, as he won two free kicks in dangerous positions. However, his teammates failed to capitalize on his efforts, as they wasted both chances.

Gibel also showed his pace and strength, as he made several runs behind the defense and held off the challenges from the opponents. He had a couple of shots on target, but none of them were powerful enough to beat the goalkeeper.

His debut in Cameroon’s second flight competition was highly praised by assistant coach Akosemoh Theodore, who believes he will do better with hard work.

On a personal note, the man from Kumba terms his elite two debut as “quiet an experience”

“My first elite two game was quite an experience. It wasn’t bad, but I will continue to work in order to achieve the team’s goals,” Gibel explained.

Penjo has proven himself as a prolific goal scorer in his previous club, Legend Football Academy. He scored an average of four goals per season in his three years with the side, making him one of the top strikers in the academy.

He is expected to improve his form and performance in the upcoming matches, and help his team climb the Elite Two Championship table. Penjo is a promising striker, with a big future.
