Host, Ghana on Wednesday became the first team into the final of the maiden WAFU-B U-20 Women’s Cup.

Yusif Basigi’s side recorded a 3-1 win over Burkina Faso to make it to the final.

Ghana had to come back from a goal down to earn a win including the Burkinabes missing a penalty in the second half which should have tied the game at 2-2.

Ragnangnewende Djiguemde gave Burkina Faso the lead in the fifth minute after good teamwork as she lobbed the ball over the Ghanian goalie.

Ghanaian captain, Stella Nyamekya equalised in the 12th minute from a free kick that was spilled by Burkina Faso’s goalkeeper into the net.

The Black Princesses took the lead two minutes before the half-hour mark as Succes Ameyaa profited from an uncleared corner kick and fired a shot from outside the box which hit the back of the net.

Another good team play resulted in the third goal in the 83rd minute when Feizu Seidu converted inside the box to make it 3-1.

Ghana will face the winner of the second semi-final match between Nigeria and Benin Republic on June 3, 2023.
