Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono Bounou was the difference as Sevilla beat AS Roma on penalties to win the 2022/23 Europa League.

Bono saved two penalties as the Spanish outfit handed Jose Mourinho his first defeat in a European competition final.

After a pulsating 120 minutes of football, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the game had to be settled from the penalty spot.

Gianluca Mancini who netted an own goal to cancel Paulo Dybala’s first half strike, saw his penalty saved by Bono before the Moroccan denied Roger Ibanez as the shootouts ended 4-1 in favour of Sevilla.

During normal play, the shot-stopper produced an outstanding save to stop Roma from scoring their second goal.

Yassine Bono’s performance earned him the man of the match award.
