- Cameroon picked up their first win of the tournament courtesy a hat-trick from Captain Mbomozomo, and goals from BEULOU, HAPPI and , Cameroon beat Namibia 6-5
The Indomitable Lionesses of Futsal put on a better show on their second day of futsal in Rabat. Ngah Chantal got off to a sluggish start and quickly conceded two early goals.
Hanavi’s shot and captain Mbomozomo’s counter-attack. The 2-0 scoreline gave Nash Modise’s girls confidence. The Lionesses reacted instantly with Brunelle Beulou and TSIMI pulling one back. Both the Ladies Brave Warriors and the Indomitable Lionesses continued to attack. It was finally Ngonda who added to her side’s lead. The two teams went in at half-time with a score of 3-2.
In the second set, HAPPI scored to make it 3-3. Louis René EPÉE’s girls had gained in confidence and were slowly getting back on track. Captain Mbomozomo scored twice to put her team-mates ahead. Sensing the danger, Pekure secured Cameroon’s lead, 5-3. The Namibians redoubled their efforts and pushed forward to score their 4th goal via Mungunda. Mbomozomo was inspired to score 6-4 just before Hanavi reduced the deficit to 6-5.
At the final whistle, Cameroon will play Tanzania in the semi-finals on Monday 28 April. Morocco, who finished top of Group A with 6 points, will take on the leaders of Group B, Angola, on the same day.
It should be noted that the two finalist teams in this CAN will qualify for the Women’s Futsal World Cup, scheduled to take place in the Philippines from 27 November to 7 December 2025.
