The Teranga Lions of Senegal have set up a date with Cameroon and Mali in October, in a preparatory friendly encounter ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament in Code D’Ivoire next year.
The Aliou Cisse-led Senegal will face Mali on October 14 and Cameroon three days later, all in France.
Equally, a friendly had been confirmed against Algeria by the country’s football federation weeks ago and so they have three in line ahead of them.
The reigning African Champions look to defend and possibly retain their title come January, when the campaign behins and are hoping to use the friendlies encounters to fine tune strategies ahead of Africa’s biggest set piece.
September will be a busy month for the Teranga Lions, with a game against Rwanda on September 9. It will count for the last day of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will have just played their last qualifier match against Burundi before facing Senegal on September 17. This game against Burundi on September 12 will decide whether Cameroon picks up a ticket to the final of the competition, unlike Senegal who have already qualified.
Mali and Algeria too have already booked their tickets to Ivory Coast, finishing top of their respective groups.
