Egypt and Kenya are the finalists of the 21st edition of the African Nations women’s volleyball championship.
The Indomitable Volleyball Lionesses of Cameroon have been denied a final ticket by nine time champions, Kenya in the semi final clash on home soil.
Team Cameroon who were defending champion, have been eliminated from the competition, putting an end to their aim of retaining the title in this 21st edition of the tournament.
The motivated Kenyan side who have won this competition the most than any nation are on course to grab their 10th title. They beat Cameroon 3-1
( 25-27/ 25-14 / 25-11/ 25-18) this Tuesday, August 23.
This win automatically earned them a ticket to the Volleyball Women’s World Championship alongside Egypt who emerged victors over amateur Rwanda.
Egypt beat the Amavubees three sets to zero(25-11/25-11/25-10) to grab a final ticket.
They meet Kenya during the finals in search of a fourth title. They are also the second nation just like Cameroon to win this tournament a record three times.
Cameroon will battle the third place title with Rwanda who reached the semi final stage for the first time but failed to go beyond.
The grand finale between the Malkia Strikers and the Pharoahs will take place tonight, August 24.
