Match day three of the Zonal Women’s Champions League Qualifiers for the UNIFFAC zone promises high stakes as the competition heats up at the Estadio de Malabo.
In a pivotal matchup, Equatorial Guinea’s 15 de Agosto will face off against Chad’s TP Elecsport, with both teams aiming for a crucial victory to boost their campaign.
TP Elecsport Seeks Redemption After Tough Loss
TP Elecsport enters the match needing a win to keep their qualification hopes alive. The Chadian side suffered a significant 5-1 defeat to FC Ebolowa on Game Day 2, despite an early goal from Felicite Beral.
With no points on the board, TP Elecsport knows that they must win their remaining three matches to stay in contention.
Speaking ahead of the game, Madam Elliane, from the TP Elecsport technical bench, expressed confidence despite the setback. “We missed out on a lot of details in the first match,” she said, “but the girls have moved on. We are ready and confident. We know 15 de Agosto is a great team, but we’re here to win and qualify.”
Head coach Bertrand Noumassei echoed the sentiment, acknowledging the need for a strong performance. “We had technical and tactical problems in our first match,” he admitted. “We need this win to have any hope of moving to the next round. We’ve studied our opponents and we will try to cause an upset.”
15 de Agosto Aims to Close the Gap on Leaders
Meanwhile, 15 de Agosto remains undefeated in the tournament and is playing catch-up with leaders FC Ebolowa, who sit on six points. The team, led by coach Bloade Barthelemy, is determined to secure a win and close the two-point gap.
Barthelemy noted that the team has been working to correct their mistakes from their 3-3 draw against Académie de M’Sichana, a game where they had to fight from behind to earn a point. “We have worked on the tactical and mental aspects because we completely missed it last time,” he said. “We’ve corrected our errors because there’s no room for mishaps.”
Ebenye, a key player for 15 de Agosto who has been instrumental in the team’s first win and subsequent draw, highlighted the importance of focus. “We are trying not to commit errors we made in our previous matches. We’re trying to communicate and keep our concentration intact,” she said. “Our objective is to win the competition.”
The game will be played on Tuesday at 3 pm lunch time and promises to be a clash second to none.
