A number of Uganda National team fans were left frustrated after the final whistle at Japoma Stadium in Douala as the cranes fell to a 2-1 defeat by Algeria in the African Nations Cup qualifier.

Thousands of them had gathered in the country’s Capital city Kampala to watch their nation play on Giant screens installed in Old taxi and New taxi park avenues.

A relief of belief was witnessed among the masses hoping to grab a victory after the Desert foxes assembling a different team prior to the first team starters.

The introduction of Manchester City winger Mahrez in the second stanza to set up the second goal for Mohamed El Amine saw the crowds in mixed feelings.

Sight of hope was restored after substitute Fahad Bayo scored a consolation from Basangwa cross with few minutes to climax of the game.

The defeat in Cameroon saw Uganda suffer yet another set back in bid to secure qualification at the next year’s edition in Ivory Coast.

The fans will have to pull out calculators again with the nation hoping to secure it late in the final game.

It should be noted Uganda play Niger away from home while Algeria hosts Tanzania in September later this year.

Currently sitting in the third position on 4 points , Tanzania with 7 points and Niger 2 points.

Algeria became the first nation to qualify out of Group F.
