  • Leandre Tawamba’s Al-Akhdoub suffered a 0-2 defeat to AL-Wedha on Saturday in match day 16
  • Leandre Tawamba became the makeshift goalkeeper when Paulo Vitor was sent off, however Al Wehda still prevailed

Cameroon international, Leandre Tawamba was the makeshift keeper for Al-Akhdoud in their 0-2 loss to Al-Wedha in matchday 16 of the Saudi pro league played at the Abdel Aziz stadium on Saturday.

The forward was compelled to stand between the posts for the four minutes of extra time after keeper Paulo Vítor was shown red for a rough tackle.

Abdulaziz Noor and Óscar Duarte netted for Odion Ighalo’s side to see them clinch all three points, climbing up the ranks to ninth place and 22 points.

A Tawamba led attack line troubled goalkeeper Muni with over twenty shots, four of which were on target.

Despite having more possession and shots than their opponents, Al-Akhdoud failed to convert their chances and were punished by Al-Wedha’s clinical finishing.

Tawamba did his best to keep the scoreline respectable, but could not stop his team from suffering their eleventh loss of the season.

With this, Al-Akhdoub stays at the 16th position, two places above last team Al-Hazm with 13 points.

The 33-year-old has scored five goals and offered one assist this season to maximize his team’s chances of surviving relegation.
