Super Eagles, Black Stars, Pharaohs book top friendlies ahead of AFCON 2023

As the 2023 African Cup of Nations gets closer, a number of the participating member association have lined up friendlies games in preparation for the tournament which will kick off on January 13, 2024.

Nine friendly matches have been confirmed by teams heading to Côte D’Ivoire for the 24-nation tournament to run till February 11 in the West African nation.

As part of their preparations, three-time African Champions, Nigeria have lined up two friendly games.

The Super Eagles will face the Leopards of Democratic Republic of Congo and the Stallions of Burkina Faso.

Four-time African champions, the Ghana Black Stars have lined up a pre-tournament friendly against Botswana.

Record champions, Egypt will face returning Tanzania in another friendly encounter as both sides prepare for their tough group stage challenge.

2013 runners-up, Burkina Faso will also meet the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) while five-time winners Cameroon lock horns with 2012 winners the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Jeddah.

Defending champions, Senegal have an appointment against the Menas of Niger on January 7 at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Dakar.

2010 hosts Angola and Guinea Bissau have also scheduled a meeting ahead of the AFCON.
