Senegal’s impressive run of scoring in 11 consecutive matches came to an end after the Teranga Lions were held to a goalless draw by Saudi Arabia in their final preparatory game ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Saudis made the brighter start and looked the more threatening side during the opening exchanges. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was called into action early, producing important saves to deny Firas Al-Buraikan and Musab Al-Juwayr as the Green Falcons dominated the first ten minutes.
Saudi Arabia continued to control much of the first half, with Nasser Al-Dawsari going close shortly after the half-hour mark. Senegal struggled to create clear-cut opportunities, with Cherif Ndiaye’s effort in stoppage time proving their only notable response before the break.
After an encouraging opening period, Saudi coach Giorgos Donis reshuffled his side at halftime, introducing several fresh faces. The changes disrupted their rhythm and allowed Senegal to gradually grow into the contest.
Pape Thiaw responded by bringing on attacking stars Nicolas Jackson and Ismaila Sarr just after the hour mark, but the duo failed to provide the breakthrough in a match largely lacking in clear chances.
Senegal’s frustrations were compounded late on when Nicolas Jackson received two yellow cards in quick succession and was sent off in the closing stages.
The stalemate means Senegal head into their World Cup opener against France without a victory in either of their pre-tournament friendlies and with their long scoring streak finally brought to an end. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia remain unbeaten in their two warm-up matches after previously defeating Puerto Rico 3-0.
