Former Cameroon U-20 international, Samuel Kotto Junior has been handed a recall to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon squad for this Month’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against Mauritius Island and Angola on October 8 and 13 respectively.
kick442.com has learnt the 22-year-old center back who ply his trade with Gent has been drafted into the squad ahead of the likes of Enzo Boyomo and Harold Moukoudi who was picked last time out. The squad is expected to be announced by Marc Brys this Friday.
The return of Kotto marks a follow up to the first call up – dating back to four years ago when he was one of the top scoring defenders in his country’s domestic championship while on the books of Apejes of Mfou.
Kotto’s call up is largely seen as a deserving one as every rational observer the Yaounde native has shown enough to get the recognition of his country. His brilliant showings in his five Jupila Pro outings out of a possible nine games so far only highlights how far he has gone to stake claims for a rare spot in the den.
The strong erstwhile Malmo center-half who began his baby steps at Tad Sport Academy will provide a fresh defensive perspective to Marc Brys’ team.
As Boyomo pays the price of his poor performance against Cape Verde last month Kotto is coming in to compete with the likes of Christopher Wooh, Michael Ngadeu and Jean Charles Castelletto who have all been maintained in the squad.
He is one of a handful of new players that have been included in the squad.
