In a move to bolster their fortunes, the PWD Bamenda club has approved a 248 million CFA franc budget for the upcoming season, a 33 million increase from the previous year.

The decision was announced following the club’s general assembly meeting in Bamenda on 17th of August . PWD Bamenda’s President, Pascal Abunde, took the opportunity to outline the club’s plans to bounce back from a disappointing 5th place finish in last season’s relegation playoffs.

Abunde expressed remorse over the challenges faced in the previous campaign, including difficulties with away games and player injuries. However, he acknowledged the unwavering support of the club’s fans and supporters. To revitalize the team, Abunde revealed a comprehensive plan that includes financial boosters, improved fan engagement, on-field goals, and a focus on team rebuilding.

As part of the strategy to generate revenue, the club intends to sell some of its talented players, while also strengthening its academy and ensuring better communication and merchandise availability for fans. Regarding on-field targets, the team is aiming to win silverware and improve its league position.

The club is currently in the process of finding a replacement for former Coach Anumewa Frankline, who is the current coach of Bafmeng United. In the meantime, Abunde emphasized the importance of peace and unity among fans and the team itself, urging the club to remain committed to the local community.

It’s worth noting that PWD Bamenda were the champions of the Cameroonian Elite One  Championship in 2020 and have enjoyed considerable success in recent years.

With the newly approved budget and strategic plans in place, the club is set to make a strong comeback.
