  • Nyame has endured six glorious years in South Africa
  • The former Real Kings keeper picked up his latest MOTM award on Saturday
  • Nyame played a telling role to ensure Royal AM kept a clean sheet against Kaiser Chiefs

Veteran Cameroonian goalkeeper, Patrick Claude Hugo Nyame of Royal AM has been voted man of the match (MOTM) following his heroic performance on Saturday to help his club pick a point at home to a rampant Kaizer Chiefs side that made him to work.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced their technical crew for the game had settled for Nyame on the night he denied Chiefs the win via his four point-blank saves.

Nyame,37, an old customer of many attackers in the PSL was simply unbeatable throughout the match day 17 appointment, thus explaining the decision.

The former Cameroon youth international has won a number of such awards during an over a half decade stay in the South Africa top-flight championship and picked up a number of the player of the match awards over the years.

The latest only highlights the reason at his age, he still has the confidence of his employers and the technical staff at the club.

Nyame is the oldest first choice goalkeeper in the PSL but incarnates the adage “the older the better”.

The former Astres of Douala keeper has repeatedly distanced himself from retirement and always justifies that on the pitch.

Royal AM are 14th on the log with 19 points obtained from their opening 16 games of the season. Hugo needs to be at his best to help them move away from the relegation dogfight.
