Cameroon international Danny Namaso delivered a performance to remember for AJ Auxerre last weekend, scoring twice and providing an assist in a sensational 3-1 victory over Le Havre in Ligue 1.
Namaso was simply unstoppable at the Stade Océane, producing a complete attacking performance that underlined his growing importance to Auxerre and offered another reminder of the attacking quality available to Cameroon.
The forward opened the scoring shortly before half-time, showing composure in front of goal to put Auxerre ahead. He returned after the interval to double the advantage, completing his brace and putting the visitors firmly in control.
Le Havre briefly threatened a comeback after pulling one goal back, but Namaso was not finished. The Cameroon international turned creator late in the game, setting up Romain Faivre to restore Auxerre’s two-goal advantage and seal a convincing away victory.
Beyond his goals and assist, Namaso was involved in virtually every aspect of Auxerre’s attacking play. He carried the ball with purpose, created opportunities for his teammates and repeatedly won his individual battles. His energy and physical presence made him a constant problem for the Le Havre defence throughout the afternoon.
It was the kind of performance that goes beyond the statistics. Namaso looked confident, aggressive and decisive — exactly the qualities expected from a forward hoping to establish himself as an important figure in Cameroon’s senior national team.
The brace also strengthened his personal numbers this season, taking him to three Ligue 1 goals and two assists, as he continues to adapt and make his mark in France.
For Cameroon, Namaso’s form will be particularly encouraging. The Indomitable Lions continue to search for greater depth and competition in attack, and performances of this level make the Auxerre forward increasingly difficult to overlook.
