  • Ashu Bessong Cyprian has been spotted at two major football events with the past week as he tours the country in search of talents
  • The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon deputy trainer watched matches of the Tiko Youth Tournament this Wednesday at the Tiko Town Green stadium

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon deputy trainer Ashu Bessong Cyprian was spotted at the Tiko Town Green stadium this Wednesday morning watching a match of the ongoing Tiko Youth Tournament that has assembled over 20 football Academies in the Southwest Region of Cameroon.

Photos of the former South Sudan and Djibouti trainer have made rounds on social media since it was first published by organisers of the event, with a cross section of stakeholders lauding the move.

Though it’s surprising to some, it’s important to highlight that coach Bessong has always been a field work trainer who believes in scouting from the lower levels though that option doesn’t work with the national teams these days.

The outing in Tiko is the second with a week as the kick442.com team also spotted coach Ashu last Saturday at the CAF Excellence Center in Mbankomo. The trainer was amongst the hundred of fans that attended the Cup of Cameroon Semi-final clash of ISOHSA versus Colombe which the latter won by 3-0 to book a spot in the final against Aigle Royal.

Coach Marc Brys has reiterated on a number of occasions that the current national team staff is keeping an eye on local talents.  They manifested their interest in local talents by inviting Nchindo John Bosco and Jules Armand Kooh Biola in the last winner though none of the players had a chance to express themselves.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will assemble again in September for what will be the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
