A new chapter has opened in Ivorian football with Racing Club de Koumassi officially changing its name to Magic System Football Club (MSFC), following the takeover of the club by Salif Traoré, better known as A’Salfo, the lead singer of the renowned Ivorian music group Magic System.
The announcement was made on October 1, 2026, with the club, which competes in the Ivorian third division, adopting an identity directly linked to the Magic System brand. The move comes just over a month after A’Salfo took control of the Koumassi-based side.
According to the new administration, the change goes beyond a simple modification of the club’s name. It is intended to mark a new direction for the institution, with a stronger local presence and a more modern approach to football development.
A’Salfo, who serves as president of the club’s board of directors, has placed the project around values associated with the Magic System group, including solidarity, excellence, ambition and commitment. The new leadership wants the football club to become an important part of the sporting landscape in Koumassi while building a sustainable structure for the future.
The sporting project is also being strengthened. Magic System FC has already appointed Gérard Russo as sporting director, as part of efforts to professionalise the club’s organisation and establish a clearer sporting structure. Russo brings experience from African football, including previous work in Congo and the Central African Republic.
The club will compete in the 2026/27 Ivorian Division 3 season, which begins on October 16. Magic System FC has been drawn in Group B, alongside ASI Abengourou, Sacraboutou Sport, Satellite FC, Songon FC, Schadrac FC, AS Espoir Adzopé, JCAT, Casy Foot and Yopougon FC. The division consists of 40 teams divided into four groups of 10.
The new-look club is also expected to unveil more details about its project on October 8, when the management plans to present the new jerseys and launch membership cards for supporters.
For A’Salfo and his team, the challenge now is to transform the high-profile Magic System name into a competitive football project. With the club starting life under its new identity in the third tier, the coming season will provide the first major test of the ambitions behind Magic System Football Club.
