FC Ebolowa coach Kpoumie Oudou has played down his team’s struggles during Saturday’s Guinness clash at home to Amazon FAP.
Entering the match, FC Ebolowa had won their last game in the reversed fixture and were 2-0 winners against Authentic Ladies in their last league outing, expected to put up a good display.
The team from South Cameroon found it difficult to overcome their opponents this time around, with Suzie Mbianji’s second-half effort just about enough to secure all the points.
“We knew before the game that [FAP] could be difficult to face. They’re a well-organised team who caused us a lot of problems. You know the Ebolowa match against Amazon is always very tense. We knew it was going to be difficult. We won the reversed game. So they had to fight back, we knew that. It was a very physical match, the teams held on.
“We didn’t take our chances but still had more control and more possibilities [to score],”
“We will continue to work. We have to wake up and prepare for the next game.”
FC Ebolowa player Nga Mballa didn’t finish the game. She suffered a knockout and was rushed to the hospital. Coach Oudou assured reporters of her well-being during the post-match presser.
“Nga Mballa suffered a violent injury, but she has recovered. You know, she is a Lioness, thanks to God she is on her feet.”
The latest defeat is FC Ebolowa’s fourth in 13 games but they remain fifth in the log with 21 points, a point above Authentic and Eding Ladies breathing down their neck.
