Conceding in very odd hours of the game; 45’+2 and 90’+4, Cameroon shared spoils with Mexico in a tough battle that ended 2-2, despite Bryan Mbeumo and Karl Toko Ekambi scoring to assure Victory for the Indomitable Lions.

Kevin Gonzalez denied Cameroon victory by scoring the late equalizer to cancel Mbeumo and Toko’s efforts toward reviving the team from slumber.

Cameroon were the better side in the opening moments and Toko made a brilliant attempt in front on goal, dribbling pass two defenders before driving the ball towards goal, but a swift intervention from the Mexico defence put out the ball.

Fabrice Ondoa made countless commendable saves in the first segment that prevented the team from conceding an early goal. It was a busy night for the Cameroon keeper, unlike Malagon who had very little work to do in goal

Mexico dominated a larger percent of the half, but the game turned in favor of Cameroon when Mbeumo created an opportunity and broke through the defense, played a one-two with Kemen before scoring.

The 37th minute goal from Mbeumo was his first for Cameroon.

From the center circle back to Cameroon’s half of the pitch after the goal, Mexico continued its dominance which eventually paid off deep into added time.

Isreal Reyes leveled scores shortly before the break, taking advantage of an absent minded defense to outsmart Ondoa who didn’t see that coming.

Moumi Ngamaleu had a glaring opportunity very early into the second-half, but lack of concentration caused Fai Collin’s cross wasted.

Enzo Tchato made his debut by replacing Olivier Mbaizo midway into the second segment..

A careless blunder from goalkeeper Malagon whose grib of the ball wasn’t solid enough, saw Ekambi smartly snatch it and sent to the back of the empty net.

Coach Rigobert Song reinforced his team as Chelsea’s young Benjamin Elliot replaced Mbeumo for his debut, Ignatius Ganago for Olivier Ntcham and Malcom Bokele in place of Oumar Gonzalez.

However, Cameroon failed to pulled the surprise at the end of the day as they only settled for a draw.

The last minute equalizer came in from Kevin Gonzalez deep into stoppage time, cancelling Cameroon’s chance of calling it a day of victory once again.
