Cameroon midfielder Franck Boya played the entire match as Club Tijuana recovered from a second-half turnaround to secure a 2-2 draw against Toluca in Mexico’s Liga MX Apertura 2026 on Wednesday, October 21.

Boya started in midfield and completed the full 90 minutes at the Estadio Nemesio Díez, helping the visitors leave with a point after a contest in which they led, fell behind and fought back to level. The result ended Tijuana’s hopes of claiming their first victory in six matches, but offered some relief after a difficult run of results.

Tijuana took the lead in the 38th minute when Elías Manoel finished off a swift counterattack initiated by Yael Padilla. The visitors went into the break ahead and appeared well positioned to frustrate their hosts, who had enjoyed more possession but struggled to break through Tijuana’s compact defensive setup.

Toluca turned the game around after the interval, with Federico Viñas equalising in the 61st minute before Helinho put the hosts ahead four minutes later. However, Tijuana refused to give in. Padilla struck again in the 75th minute, smashing home after a corner-kick scramble to restore parity and secure a valuable away point.

The draw left Toluca third in the Apertura standings on 22 points, while Tijuana moved to 17 points in ninth place as they continued their push for a playoff position. For Boya, completing the match in a demanding away fixture was another full outing as Tijuana look to halt their winless run and return to winning ways.
