The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will have to make do without Premier League duo Carlos Baleba Noom Quomah of Brighton and Hove Albion and Bryan Mbeumo plus Serie A star Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa of Napoli in the next two matches Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches in the next seven days, kick442.com can report.

This Pan African sports News agency has information in good authority that the trio are not travelling home for the matches against Namibia and Zimbabwe scheduled for November 13 and 19 respectively.

We understand the coach has yielded to Brighton’s request to rest Carlos Baleba Noom Quomah as he continues his recovery from a knee problem while Mbeumo has received clearance to be excused from the matches.

For Zambo, our sources at Napoli he has just welcomed a new baby and is expected to be on paternity leave following the birth of his new baby in Italy.

It’s unclear if Marc Brys will replace the trio or not but with the team traveling to South Africa on Tuesday, it is unlikely he does given the short adjustment time.

As it stands 16 of the remaining 22 from the 25 players initially summoned are already in camp and held a first training session this Monday in Yaoundé.

With two games remaining in the qualifiers, the Indomitable Lions currently lead Group J with ten points, holding a five-point lead over second-placed Zimbabwe, who will face bottom side Namibia (without any points) later on Monday.

While Kenya sit in third place with four points, Cameroon hold a superior head-to-head record, having previously defeated Kenya 4-1 in the earlier round in Yaoundé on Friday.

Cameroon boast five continental titles, trailing Egypt who holds a record of seven titles.

Their most recent victory was in 2017 in Gabon when they overcame the Pharaohs with a 2-1 win.

Burkina Faso have already secured a place in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday after leading Group L.

The top two teams from the various groups in the Nations Cup qualifiers will advance to the continental competition.
