Nigeria’s senior national team edges Mozambique 3-2 in an international friendly match in Portugal on Monday.
Nigeria coach, Jose Peseiro stuck with goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho despite his mistakes leading to Saudi Arabia’s first goal in another friendly match on Friday.
Within the first six minutes, the Mambas bridged Uzoho’s net again with the opener courtesy of Genyi Catamo.
The three-time African champions bounced back as Terem Moffi equalised in the 19th minute.
Frank Onyeka gave the Super Eagles a deserved lead in the half-hour mark.
The goal was the Brentford midfielder’s first for the national team.
In the additional minutes of the first half, Moses Simon increased the lead from the spot.
The Mambas reduced the deficit in the 55th minute despite being reduced to ten players after Edmilon Dove’s red card.
Catamu assisted Faisal Bangal for the Mocambicans’ second goal which also questioned the capacity and capability of Uzoho in goal for Nigeria.
Jose Peseiro’s side will next face Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in November.
