Yves Alain Dooh Moukoko says he is expecting a tough contest during the the 2022/23 MTN Elite One championship title play-offs but is fired up for the four-clubs tournament.

Canon Sportive of Yaoundé are heading to their second consecutive Elite one playoffs, scheduled to kickstart on May 14 in the country’s economic capital City, Douala.

Team captain Moukoko, has re-echoed the club’s readiness ahead of the first crucial encounter against last year’s super cup champions, Bamboutos of Mbouda.

“We know how tough this battle will be, but we didn’t come this far to let go easily. We are here for the title. Since the start of the season we put in so much work to get to this stage, so we are not going to depend on past glories.

“There’s no need for too much talking. We are ready to give in our all and I believe in my team mates. We can do it,” Moukoko said during the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

Coach Souleymanou Aboubakar equally assures of the team’s positivity and approach towards the game, most especially their readiness to challenge for the title.

“I’ve been in this for over 35years and I keep working harder just to produce results. I did it with Cotonsport last season, this year is Canon’s… the goal is to emerge champion,” Coach Souleymanou reiterated.

This will be an opportunity for the skipper as well to make amends for last season when he skippered runners-up Eding Sport de la Lekie as they missed out on the title.

Canon will equally be hoping to reach the grand finale after bowing out in the playoffs last season following a defeat to eventual champions, Cotonsport.

The Kpakum boys will be counting on goal poacher Emmanuel Mahop, who is the current top scorer this season (13goals), a nightmare to defenders to get the goals and secure the points.

It will definitely not be an easy encounter at the Reunification stadium Bepanda this Sunday giving that the Mangwa boys are eager to win their first title.

Canon qualified for the playoffs top of pool A with 38pts. Meanwhile Bamboutos came runners up in pool B, below Gazelle FA of Garoua.

Both sides have had a very consistent season and are tipped favorite for either side to emerge Champion of Cameroon, as considered the heavyweights of the season.

They will face off this Sunday in the second game programmed at the Bepanda Reunification stadium, right after the first clash between Cotonsport and newcomers,Gazelle.
