Coton Sport FC of Garoua are preparing for a new chapter, with a FCFA 488 million budget for the 2026-2027 season, renewed investment in youth development and plans to improve the club’s infrastructure.

The club’s Board of Directors met in Garoua on Friday, October 9, 2026, under the leadership of Board Chairman Mohammadou Kaou to prepare for the General Assembly held on Saturday, October 10. The meeting reviewed the club’s financial performance for the previous season, endorsed recent sporting reforms and outlined priorities aimed at strengthening Coton Sport both on and off the pitch.

Financially, the Garoua-based outfit closed the 2025-2026 season in the black. According to accounts certified by the club’s auditor, Coton Sport generated FCFA 410,372,360 in revenue against expenses of FCFA 402,364,834, resulting in a surplus of FCFA 8,007,526. The board also approved a balanced projected budget of FCFA 488 million for the 2026-2027 campaign, reflecting the club’s financial ambitions for the coming season.

The club is equally looking to strengthen its internal organisation. Under the new measures, members will be required to pay an annual contribution of at least FCFA 100,000 to participate and vote at General Assemblies. The requirement applies to members of the SODECOTON staff mutual association, MAS, as well as other members. Board Chairman Mohammadou Kaou has also been tasked with establishing a special commission to review the club’s statutes and regulations and propose improvements to its overall management.

Youth development is another major pillar of the club’s plans. The executive bureau, led by President Sadou Fernand, has been instructed to improve the scouting of young talents across the cotton-producing basin while ensuring closer monitoring of the squad and transfer activities. To provide promising youngsters with regular competitive football, a junior team named Diamaor will participate in the regional league championship, with technical support from former club president Gilbert Maïna. The board has also requested a comprehensive statistical report covering the club’s sporting, technical and financial performances over the past five years.

Coton Sport are also targeting improvements at their Ngalbidjé complex, where the completion of the players’ dormitory and the installation of a FIFA-standard artificial playing surface remain key priorities. The board chairman has been instructed to seek financial support from local councils, the National Confederation of Cotton Producers of Cameroon (CNPC-C), agricultural cooperatives and private partners to help deliver the projects.

Beyond the sporting and infrastructural plans, the club intends to strengthen its commercial activities through sustained communication campaigns, the development of physical merchandise shops and the introduction of online sales for jerseys and other branded products. The measures are designed to expand the club’s revenue streams while improving its connection with supporters. With the FCFA 488 million budget and several reforms on the table, Coton Sport are seeking to build a stronger foundation for future sporting success and reinforce their position among Cameroon’s leading football clubs.
