In preparations for the group stages of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League, Al Hilal of Omdurman and Al Ahly of Cairo are busy in the transfer market trying to make some signings to improve their squads.

Per multiple sources in the DRC the multiple champions of Sudan have completed the signing of enterprising right-back Steven Ebuela from AS Maniema Union on recommendation of compatriot Jean Florent Ibenge – head coach of Hilal these days.

The Congo Olympic national team captain has joined the club on a two-year-deal plus an option for an additional year and for an undisclosed fee.

The move is aimed at improving Ibenge’s team in defense weeks before the start of the group stages of the competition which starts in February.

Elsewhere Al Ahly are closing on the signing of DR Congo International Jackson Muleka from Turkish giants Besiktas. The former TP Mazembe record man is expected to join the Red Devils immediately after his current employers sign Cameroonian forward Vincent Aboubakar from Saudi Side Al Nassr.

Muleka is no stranger to the CAF inter Club competitions. In fact his performances against in the past made him a strong target for the club of the century before he moved to Standard Liege in 2021.

23-year-old Muleka has scored five goals in 18 matches this season for Besiktas but looks set to be on his way out for a fee around the region of $2 Million.

Cotonsport, Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cotonsport are in Group B and get their campaign underway in February. But before then they must strengthen to give themselves a chance to qualify from what many have termed a group of death.

In a related development, Cotonsport of two Nigerians and a Cameroonian returning from Tunisia are in town to talk terms and possibly join the club.
