Three Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club and Zambian players have signed two-year deals with Kazakhstan champions BIIK Shymkent.
Defender Martha Tembo, midfielder Ireen Lungu, and striker Hellen Chanda will now be based in Shymkent until October 2024.
The deal is subject to renewal and the players will compete in the Kazakhstani championship.
The trio’s move to the 16-time champions brings the number of Copper Queens players abroad to 12.
Others are Hellen Mubanga, Barbara Banda, Misozi Zulu, Hazel Nali, Natasha Witika, Margaret Belemu, Rachael Kundananji, Rachael Nachula, and Grace Chanda.
BIIK Shymkent has proved to be a pathway for many Copper Queens players in recent years, with Kundananji, Prisca Chilufya, and Chanda all passing through their system.
Green Buffaloes dethroned Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies to win the 2022 COSAFA (Southern Africa) Zonal Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The team crashed out at the group stage of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League in a group comprising ASFAR FC of Morocco, Determine Girls of Liberia, and Simba Queens of Tanzania.
