Italian Serie A giants, Napoli, will have to do without their top goal scorer Victor Osimhen in their UEFA Champions league first-leg quater-final clash against AC Milan on Wednesday, April 12 at the San Siro stadium.

The forward is yet to recover from a thigh injury picked up while on International duty for Nigeria(AFCON 2023 Qualifiers) and has not been in action since his return.

A huge setback for Luciano Spalletti, who will have to file in a replacement for his top scorer this season. Giacomo Raspadori could be a better option since Giovanni Simeone has just suffered a hamstring injury.

Osimhen missed out on Napoli’s 4-0 loss to AC Milan at home on April 2, their third defeat this season.

However, Spalletti is positive the absence of Osimhen will not weigh down their performance in this crucial encounter considering his boys are ready for the task.

”The strength of a team is never just the sum of its various parts. It’s the sum of all its qualities, how they co-exist and work together.

“Our team has shown it can play regardless of the formation picked at the beginning of the match,” Spalletti mentioned.

Osimhen, 24, is Napoli’s top scorer this season with 24 goals in 28 games in all competitions this season, plus four assists.

He equally counts the most number of goals scored in the serie A this season than any player (21goals).
