Angola coach Patrice Beaumelle says his side will use their clash against Cameroon as a perfect test ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing the game as an opportunity to measure themselves against one of the continent’s top sides.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Beaumelle acknowledged the difference in stakes between the two teams, noting that while the Indomitable Lions must win to stay in contention for a top spot or a possible best runners-up place in World Cup qualifying, his focus remains on preparing his squad for January’s AFCON finals.

“We’re going to face a match with a completely different objective,” Beaumelle said. “Cameroon have to win to maybe finish first or among the best seconds. As for us, we’re here to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations, and what better way to do that than against the giants of Africa? It’s a great chance for my players to show me what they’re capable of.”

The French tactician, who once served as assistant coach to Hervé Renard with Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire, has brought stability and structure to Angola, who have impressed with their disciplined play and growing confidence.

Cameroon, meanwhile, are under pressure to deliver in front of their home crowd at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, especially after recent mixed performances. Head coach Marc Brys will be looking for a statement victory to maintain momentum in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

Kick-off is at 17:00 local time, with both teams eager to finish the international window on a high.
