The Cameroon Cricket Federation has concluded a key planning meeting ahead of the country’s first-ever ICC Women’s Cricket Week, set to run from 16 to 22 October 2025.
Federation President Victor Agbor Nso met on Saturday with members of the women’s national team, club captains, vice-captains, and development officers in Yaoundé to finalise preparations for the week-long event, which aims to promote the growth and visibility of women’s cricket in Cameroon.
The initiative aligns with the International Cricket Council’s global campaign to boost the profile of the women’s game, and comes as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup continues in India.
“The ICC Women’s Cricket Week is a major opportunity for us to showcase the talent and passion of our female cricketers,” said Agbor Nso following the meeting. “Our goal is not just participation but long-term development. This week is about visibility, inclusion, and creating pathways for the next generation.”
Plans discussed during the meeting include community outreach, inter-club exhibitions, school engagement programmes, and media activations designed to raise awareness of the women’s game across the country.
Cameroon has been steadily building its women’s cricket infrastructure in recent years, with the national team making its international debut in 2021. The Federation sees this ICC-backed initiative as a chance to deepen the sport’s roots and inspire young girls to take up the game.
The Women’s Cricket Week activities will be rolled out nationwide, with key events scheduled in major cities including Yaoundé, Douala, and Bamenda.
