African national teams hijack social media with stunning AFCON 2023 arrivals outfits

The national football teams of Ghana, Cameroon, The Gambia, Guinea amongst others arriving Côte D’Ivoire this week ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have sparked euphoria on social and mainstream media following their fascinating CAF-oriented native dressing.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Black Stars of Ghana, Super Eagles of Nigeria dominated talks about the AFCON on Wednesday, January 11.

Pictures of the players in the traditional wear flooded the social media as the teams captured the admiration of many before stepping onto the field for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, set to be hosted by Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.

The CAF-imposed AFCON Drip Check activation aimed at showcasing African culture and linking it to the beautiful game is one of the innovations of this tournament.

Nigeria’s elegant Kaftan Vs Ghana’s Kente

The three-time African Champions left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport dressed in traditional African attire. The Kaftans which traces its roots traces its roots back to ancient Mesopotamia, worn by Persians around 600 BC was complemented by green headgear, symbolizing the national colours.

The Black Stars on their part dressed in Kente. The Kente cloth originated from the Ashanti kingdom and symbolizes Ghanaian culture, renowned globally for its beauty, intricate designs, and cultural significance

Departing from the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, the four-time African champions sported simple white African shirts over white shorts, elevating their look with vibrant and colourful Kente outfits upon disembarking from the plane.

A host of other national teams also arrived in very attractive outfits.
