Former Ivorian international, Yaya Toure has picked his favourites to win the next African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in his country.

The former Manchester City star chose holders, 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists, 2010 FIFA World Cup host, and Guinea Bissau to go far.

Toure who won the 2015 AFCON with Ivory Coast believed the four teams are capable of going far and winning the title based on cureent form.

“I would say Senegal, Morocco, Guinea-Bissau, and South Africa. Their performance during the qualifications was impressive.” Toure stated

Senegal won the last title in Cameroon and will face the last host of the tournament, Guinea, and The Gambia in Group C.

Morocco which is Africa’s top-ranked team ahead of the tournament will hope to win their second title in Ivory Coast after getting to the semi-final of the last World Cup, the first African team to achieve the feat.

They will tackle the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Zambia, and Tanzania in Group F.

For Guinea Bissau, the host, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Equatorial Guinea await them in Group A.

South Africa which won the AFCON in 1996 and hosted Africa’s first senior FIFA World Cup in 2010 will trade tackles with Tunisia, Mali, and Namibia in Group E.
