AFCON 2023: Burkina Faso’s 27-man squad in search of first AFCON trophy

The Stallions of Burkina Faso have named their 27-man squad to take part in the 2023 AFCON coming up in Cote D’Ivoire from January 13, 2024.

Burkina Faso who will be in their 13th AFCON participation will be looking forward to grab the title for the first time after finishing second in 2013, third in 2017 and fourth in 2021.

Les Etalons’ squad paints an intriguing picture of experienced stalwarts and promising talent. The chosen squad comprises four goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders, and eight attackers. A few regulars like goalkeeper Hervé Koffi, central defender Edmond Tapsoba, and right-back Issa Kaboré stand out in the list. Moreover, Bertrand Traoré, despite his recent absence from fixtures, finds a place in the squad, a testament to Coach Velud’s faith in his abilities. However, injuries have sidelined center forward Lassina Traoré and right-winger Cyrille Bayala for this edition of AFCON.

Burkina Faso’s first match in the years edition will be on January 16, against Mauritania in Bouake.
