32-year-old Adamu Issa Bouba has emerged winner of the 2023 Mount Cameroon race of Hope after crossing the finish line at the Molyko Omnisport stadium ahead of all athletes that entered the race.
The native of the Northwest region won it for the first time in his career after numerous participations during which his best finish was a third place finish last.
Issa edged last year’s winner Elvis Nsabinla during the last laspe of the race to unseed
“I thought I will be in the top 20 but today by God’s grace I won the race. It is my second participation and I hope to continue doing this,” Issa stated.
The man who turns 32 next month reached the submit in the seventh position but outclassed those in front of him during the return phase of the race.
He was however quick to play down talks of targeting a win in three consecutive editions.
Abdou Amadou and Elvis Winkar finished second and third respectively in the men’s category.
Tatah Carine and Ketakh Midred are neck to neck towards the finish line of the race in the women’s category.
