Andre Onana’s representatives led by Spaniard Albert Botines have had a meeting with Manchester United officials as part of efforts to explore all goalkeeping options available in the market should David De Gea leave Old Trafford this window.
United joined Chelsea on the list of clubs keen on signing the 27-year-old on the hill of his brilliant season.
Though his parent club, Inter Milan have repeatedly expressed their reluctance to sell the shot stopper, United is pushing for a deal.
Onana joined Inter as a free agent in the build up to the just-ended season after five successful years at Ajax Amsterdam. He quickly established himself as a more regular keeper ahead of club captain Samir Handonovic. He helped Inter win the Italian Super Cup, Cup and reached the Champions League final.
Onana’s value has undoubtedly shot up over the season just gone. He made a total of 40 appearances for Inter across his first season at the club.
As a result, Inter Milan have placed an asking price of €60 million on Onana this summer.
The meeting could be the first step towards enhancing the move especially as Onana has said his switch depends on his parent club.
In the meantime, Empoli star Guglielmo Vicario has been earmarked as the player Inter is planning to turn to as replacement for Onana.
