Ni John Fru Ndi, former PWD of Bamenda president and founder of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) has died aged 81.
The emblematic PWD of Bamenda president in the late 80s who later became one of the most pushful opposition leaders died in Yaounde on Monday, June 12 after protracted illness.
Fru Ndi was PWD’s president in 1979 when they lost the Cup of Cameroon final against Dynamo of Douala by 3-1 but formed a part of the historic moments of the Abakwa Boys.
He dies days after PWD sealed another date against Dynamo of Douala in the quarter-final of the Cup of Cameroon.
Ni Ndi ran for presidential elections in Cameroon on multiple occasions from 1990 when SDF was created till 2011. He left the helm of the party in 2018, just before the presidential elections that year.
24 hours earlier, former AC Milan president and Italian Prime Minister passed on aged 86. Both men left an indelible mark in the football and political sphere.
They leave behind friends in the football industry and family members to mourn them.
