Indomitable Lions head coach David Pagou has made a late adjustment to his squad for the September-October FIFA international window following an injury to Karl Etta Eyong.

Etta Eyong has been withdrawn from the squad after sustaining a thigh injury, leaving Pagou with the task of finding a replacement ahead of Cameroon’s opening fixture in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The coach has responded by calling up Alanyaspor forward Ivan Cedric Bikoue Embolo. The Turkish-based attacker will now join the Indomitable Lions as they step up preparations for the qualifiers.

Cameroon are in Group G alongside Comoros, Namibia and Congo and will open their qualifying campaign at home against Comoros on September 24, 2026. The encounter is scheduled for the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, with kick-off at 8:00 PM.

After the opening encounter with Comoros, the Indomitable Lions will turn their attention to their second Group G fixture against Congo. The match will also carry an interesting reunion, with Congo coached by former Cameroon head coach Claude Le Roy.

Following their two AFCON 2027 qualifying assignments, Cameroon will then travel to Abidjan for an international friendly against Côte d’Ivoire, providing Pagou with another opportunity to assess his squad ahead of the next stage of the national team’s preparations.

With three matches on the programme during the FIFA window, Pagou will have the opportunity to test his squad in both competitive and friendly encounters. The late replacement of Etta Eyong adds another element to the preparations, with Bikoue Embolo now handed the chance to make an impression with the Indomitable Lions.
