Senegal have been crowned champions of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Tanzania 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the final played in Morocco.

The Young Lions made a dream start when Ibrahim Dione opened the scoring in the 7th minute, putting Senegal ahead early in the contest. Tanzania responded with great determination and found an equalizer through Hamis Chenga in the 64th minute, ensuring the match finished level after regulation time.

With neither side able to find a winner, the title was decided from the penalty spot. Senegal held their nerve, converting all four of their spot-kicks, while Tanzania missed twice, handing the West Africans a 4-2 shootout victory and sparking jubilant celebrations.

The triumph sees Senegal secure their second U-17 AFCON crown, joining the elite group of nations with two titles at this level alongside Cameroon and Mali. Remarkably, Senegal have once again lifted the trophy on Moroccan soil, further cementing their growing reputation as one of Africa’s leading youth football nations. The victory is another testament to the country’s flourishing football development system, which continues to produce champions across the continent.
