Yaoundé is set to witness a historic moment this Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The inauguration of the new headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in Warda does not merely mark the opening of a new building, but the conclusion of an institutional saga that has lasted for more than a decade.

A Long-Term Project: From 2012 to Completion

To fully understand the excitement surrounding this event, one must go back to 2012. It was during the era of Iya Mohammed that the foundation stone of what was envisioned as the “temple of national football” was first laid. However, what was initially expected to be a swift construction project turned into a true test of perseverance.

Caught up in legal disputes, successive administrations — from Tombi A Roko Sidiki to Seidou Mbombo Njoya — and repeated work stoppages, particularly in 2018, the Warda edifice long stood as a symbol of incompletion. It was only after Samuel Eto’o assumed the presidency in December 2021 that the project experienced its decisive acceleration. Between 2023 and 2024, under the drive of the former global football star, construction resumed with renewed intensity, making the headquarters a cornerstone of his modernization agenda.

More Than a Building, A Performance Tool

This “architectural jewel” will finally centralize all technical and administrative services, which were previously scattered and cramped within the historic offices in Tsinga. Designed with efficiency in mind, the new working environment is expected to professionalize the management of Cameroonian football, from youth development to the digitalization of administrative procedures.

The Program of May 12

FECAFOOT has chosen to celebrate this infrastructural milestone with an unprecedented public mobilization:

The Renaissance Walk (Starting at 2:00 PM)

A major caravan will depart from the former headquarters in Tsinga and proceed to the Military Stadium. This symbolic route will include strategic stops at:

* Warda Junction (to salute the new headquarters)
* “I Love My Country” Roundabout
* Central Post Office
* Reunification Monument

Each stop will serve as an opportunity to celebrate Cameroon’s football culture, with mandatory participation from representatives of all professional clubs, dressed in their respective club colors.

Official Inauguration and Prestige Ceremony

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in the presence of Samuel Eto’o, members of the Executive Committee, the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP), as well as delegates from Confederation of African Football and FIFA. Guests will tour a modern building clearly designed with the future in mind.

Gala Match and Mega Concert (From 6:00 PM)

The celebrations will culminate at the Military Stadium, where the public will enjoy free access to a gala match featuring football legends, followed by a mega concert.
