The journey of the Indomitable Lions came to a painful halt as the Atlas Lions of Morocco delivered a composed and clinical performance to seal a 2–0 victory, sending the hosts into celebration and Cameroon into reflection. In a contest filled with intensity, tactical discipline and moments of individual brilliance, Morocco proved more decisive at both ends of the pitch, capitalising on key moments to book their passage while Cameroon exited with pride but disappointment.

From the opening exchanges, Morocco imposed control through intelligent ball circulation and positional discipline. While Cameroon showed early intent with neat passing sequences, it was the Atlas Lions who looked more threatening, especially from set pieces. That pressure told in the 26th minute when a corner caused chaos in the Cameroonian box, allowing Brahim Díaz to force the ball over the line for the opening goal an early reward for Morocco’s sustained dominance.

Cameroon attempted to respond with resilience, growing into the game through spells of possession and territorial control. Bryan Mbeumo, Danny Namaso and Christian Kofane tried to stretch the Moroccan defence, but clear-cut chances were hard to come by. Morocco’s backline, well marshalled and protected by a disciplined midfield, absorbed the pressure calmly, with goalkeeper Bono rarely troubled despite Cameroon’s persistence.

The second half followed a similar script. Cameroon pushed forward with urgency, enjoying more of the ball and probing for openings, but Morocco remained patient and ruthless on the counter. The decisive moment arrived in the 74th minute when Ismaël Saibiri latched onto a precise long pass and finished coolly inside the right post, doubling Morocco’s lead and effectively sealing the contest. It was a moment of quality that reflected Morocco’s efficiency on the night.

Saibiri’s influence throughout the match was undeniable. Beyond his goal, he dictated tempo, linked play intelligently and constantly unsettled the Cameroonian midfield with his movement and vision. His all-round display earned him the Man of the Match award, a fitting recognition for a performance that combined elegance, work rate and end product at the highest level.

As the final whistle blew after six minutes of added time, the contrast in emotions was stark. For Morocco, it was a triumph of structure, belief and execution another statement of their growing stature on the continental stage.

For Cameroon, it marked a bitter exit, yet not without honour. The Indomitable Lions fought until the end, but on the night, the Atlas Lions roared louder, marching on with authority while Cameroon’s campaign came to a dignified close.
