Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana has emerged as the goalkeeper with the highest save percentage among the major European leagues, according to a ranking highlighting the best-performing shot-stoppers across Europe.

Onana tops the list with an impressive 89.1 per cent save rate in the Turkish Süper Lig, putting the Trabzonspor goalkeeper ahead of his counterparts in Italy, France, Spain, England and Germany.

The 30-year-old is followed by Christos Mandas of Lazio, who has a save percentage of 87.5 per cent in Serie A. Lille goalkeeper Berke Özer ranks third in Ligue 1 with 82.6 per cent, while Ionut Radu of Celta Vigo occupies fourth place in La Liga at 81.6 per cent.

England’s Premier League is represented by James Trafford, who has recorded an 81.3 per cent save rate, while former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius completes the top six in the Bundesliga with 81.1 per cent.

Onana’s numbers underline his growing importance at Trabzonspor since joining the Turkish club. Current league data also shows him among the club’s leading performers, although different statistical databases can produce different percentages depending on the matches and competition sample used.

For Cameroon, Onana’s resurgence comes at an important moment as the Indomitable Lions continue preparations for the next phase of their international campaign. His consistency between the posts will remain one of the key factors for the national team’s ambitions, particularly with major competitions on the horizon.
