Cameroon forward Didier Lamkel Ze has confirmed he will leave Chinese Super League side Qingdao Hainiu at the end of the season, citing unpaid bonuses and broken promises.
Lamkel Ze joined the club midway through the season but made an immediate impact, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 12 matches, playing a pivotal role in helping the team avoid relegation.
In a message to fans, teammates, and club staff, Lamkel Ze expressed gratitude. “I want to thank all the supporters for their support during my five months in Qingdao, as well as my teammates — not forgetting the coach who understood me,” he said.
He acknowledged the challenges he faced on and off the pitch. “The mission was complicated,” Lamkel Ze added.
The Cameroon international then explained why he would not extend his stay. “Yes, I received a contract offer for next season but unfortunately I turned it down because there were a lot of broken promises,” he revealed. “Frankly, I don’t want to continue in a club with so many back pay. I wish you all the best for the future.”
Despite his brief spell, Lamkel Ze’s contributions were crucial in securing Qingdao Hainiu’s top-flight status, but his departure underscores ongoing financial and administrative issues within the club.
The 28-year-old’s next move remains uncertain, with potential suitors reportedly considering him across Asia and Europe, where he previously played for clubs including Antwerp, Dunajská Streda, and Metz.
His exit also highlights broader concerns about player welfare and contractual reliability in the Chinese Super League, which has faced growing scrutiny over unpaid wages in recent seasons.
