As the Intermediate Lions gear up for their second leg African Nations Championship qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR), head coach Soh Simplice has laid out a clear game plan: the team is set to finish the job on home turf.

In a pre-match briefing, Simplice highlighted the need for clinical finishing.

“We are at home and we intend to finish the job on Saturday,” he asserted. Reflecting on the first leg, he noted, “Offensively, we squandered many chances, and we need to correct that.”

To bolster their attack, Simplice has added two new strikers to the squad, including the prolific Angel Yondjo. The forward, known for his goal-scoring prowess, has been a standout performer in recent tournaments.

Simplice has been instilling a sense of urgency in his players. Despite holding a goal advantage from the first leg, he insists the team must play as if they are trailing.

“We have instilled in the players’ minds that we are trailing. We will not approach this match as if we have a goal advantage; rather, we will approach it as if we have a goal to recover.”

The Intermediate Lions arrived in Bafoussam on Wednesday and have since resumed training, allowing them to acclimate to local conditions and fine-tune their strategies.

This mentality is crucial as the Lions aim to secure their place in the African Nations Championship. Simplice’s strategy is clear: maintain pressure, capitalize on scoring opportunities, and ensure a solid defensive performance to keep CAR at bay.

Fans from the west and north west region are called upon to rally support for the intermediate lions this saturday at 2pm at the Kuekong stadium.
