New signing Boris Ekotto clinched Colombe’s inaugural national title with a decisive strike in the tenth minutes of the Cup of Cameroon final against Aigle of Menoua on Sunday.
The match, held at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, marked a historic achievement for the South Doves, who celebrated their first national trophy in their 71-year history, in their first attempt.
From the opening whistle, the South Doves took control, dominating possession and orchestrating fluid passing sequences that kept Aigle on the back foot. However, Aigle’s goalkeeper, Franck Derick Koumessi, was in fine form, making several crucial saves to keep the scoreline level.
Fueled by a passionate home crowd, Colombe’s relentless pressure finally paid off when Ivan Mvondo Olama delivered a pinpoint cross that found Ekotto at the far post. The new signing made no mistake with a close-range header that broke the deadlock and sent the fans into raptures.
Despite creating multiple opportunities to extend their lead, Colombe struggled to find the back of the net again. Aigle seemed more organized after conceding but failed to capitalize on their long-range efforts, as Colombe’s keeper Idrissou Nfor was equal to the task.
