Recently-appointed Indomitable Lions of Cameroon trainer Marc Brys has revealed he picked the chance to coach Cameroon over other options because it provides the perfect opportunity.

The 61-year-old Belgian tactician was announced as Rigobert Song’s successor in the Indomitable Lions dugout per a ministerial decision announced on Tuesday, April 2.

24 hours later, the trainer with an over 25 years experience says amongst others he settled for Cameroon because of the project.

“The Cameroon puzzle was perfect in terms of the sporting and financial aspects. It’s an exciting challenge to work in a different way.”

“I have never worked in a national team. We have to try to create a group with whom we don’t spend too much time,” he explained.

Coach Marc then revealed the other opportunities that he dumbed to settle for the Cameroon option.

“Cameroon wasn’t the only team I spoke with in recent months. There was Ghana and a few weeks ago I had contacts from Tunisia. There were some Belgian clubs but I decided to take the Cameroon challenge,” he concluded.

Marc Brys jumps into a complex Cameroon football family that has known its fair share of polemics over the years. Even his appointment has been greeted with controversies with president Eto’o Fils Samuel of the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) claiming he wasn’t consulted before the appointment.
