The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has had its appeal against a €1.6 Million fine from FIFA rejected by the Swiss Federal Tribunal, confirming the Court of Arbitration For Sports (CAS) decision of July 2023.

FECAFOOT filed a request to have the sanction annulled in an attempt not to avoid the payment but CAS wrote on May 8 to inform their Cameroonian client that they are maintaining the initial decision from the FIFA players status commission.

FECAFOOT again contested the decision and dragged it to the Swiss Federal Tribunal which has unfortunately maintained the CAS decision.

“The Swiss Federal Tribunal has dismissed the appeal filed by FECAFOOT who sought an order from CAS to have their €1.6 M lifted,” a TFS M said in a statement we stumbled on on November 3.

In addition to the initial claim, FECAFOOT has been tasked to pay €17 000 as the litigation charges and an additional €19000 compensation to Conceicao.

FECAFOOT is yet to react to the decision though previously by Blaise Djounang, it’s Secretary General had announced they will contest a CAS ruling.

Conceicao was sacked in February 2022, four months after signing a new contract on the heels of a satisfactory first stint in which he suffered two defeats in 24 matches over a two-year period.

It is not the first time FECAFOOT has been fined huge sums for wrongfully terminating a contract with a coach. Hugo Broos, Clarence Seedorf and Patrick Kluivert among others caused a similar situation.
