2023 International Cycling Tour : North region to get her first-ever kick-off ceremony

The North region of Cameroon, will for her first time, host the kick-off ceremony of the 19th,edition of the famous International Cycling race schedule to run from May 31 to June 11,2023.

According to the Local Committee organizers, it is one of the major innovations for this year’s race. It should be noted that, the North region had been awaiting for this opportunity, for over ten years. Although she has always been marked, by the passage of the cycling caravan in one of her stages.

With aim of ensuring that the event be a success, officials of the Cameroon Cycling Federation led by her President Honoré Yossi and the region’s first man, Jean Abate Edi’i, have held numerous working sessions prior to the event, alongside with the local authorities.

The official presentation ceremony of the various teams, to part take in the bicycle Jamboree, shall take place at the Roumde Adja Party Square on June 2,2023.

The first stage will be at Figuil-Garoua , 96 km long, on June 3 and the second stage (a criterium in Garoua) on June 4,2023.

Placed under the High Patronage of the Head of State, Paul Biya, the 19th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Cameroon aims, beyond sport, to discover the immense tourist potential that Cameroon as a whole abounds.

Worthy of note that, the 2022 edition of the Cycling race was won by Rwandan Moise Mugisha. Cameroon’s Arthuce Jodele Tella was ranked 3rd.

The 2023 edition of the International Cycling Race will be held in eight stages, notably;

Pouma-Edéa-Kribi (3rd stage; 150.6km), Kribi-Douala (4th stage; 160.1km), Douala-Douala ( 5th stage, 109.6 km), Loum-Dschang (6th stage; 112 km), Bangangté-Bafia (7th stage, 120.9 km) and Bafia-Yaoundé (8th stage, 122km).

Overall, nine teams from Cameroon, Africa and Europe are expected to take part in this event. They include;

Cameroon National Team, SNH Vélo Club, Algeria, Rwanda, Morocco, Benin, Martigues SC (France), Team France Club de la Défense (France) and Global Cycling (Holland
