Heartland Queens on Wednesday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta state outclassed non-leaguers, Golden Sun 3-0 to book a place in the President Federation Cup round of 16.

Heartland Queens’ conjurewoman, Mary Lucky opened scoring for the Owerri landladies in the first few minutes of the game to make it a one goal lead.

The lead furthered the hunger in the Owerri side for more goals as they stepped up the onslaughts and the incessant raids on the opponents vital areas resulted in another goal when the side’s top scorer, Chinedu Chinaka upped the tally 15 minutes later to keep them comfortable at 2-0.

On the field captain, Chimebere Opara produced a masterly simple tap in to wrapped up an impressive first half with 3-0 comfortable lead.

The second half was less eventful as the Owerri mainstreams were wasteful in front of goal with the likes of Lucky, Oluchi Okwara, Chinaka and Onyinyechi Kalu failing to convert the clear cut chances despite pegging the Yenagoa side at their half.

Matchday netminder, Amarachi Atulayo was on holiday all day as all the actions were played in the opponents’ half.

With the win, Heartland Queens have progressed to the President Federation Cup round of 16 where they are expected to battle topflight giants, FC Robo Queens in the next stage.

However, the Owerri side will be proceeding to Yenagoa, Bayelsa state next week to partake in the NWFL Premiership Super Six playoffs alongside Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens and Edo Queens to decide on the champions as well the flagbearers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
