Organizers of the 2023 Golf Friendship Tournament,alongside officials of the Cameroon Golf Federation, all converged in a press conference on May 18,at the Yaounde Golf Club so as to make public how exceptional the Yaounde golf jamboree will unfold.
The Cameroon Golf Federation is
organizing the «Cameroon-Nigeria Friendship Golf Tournament»
from May 16 to 21, 2023 at the Yaoundé Golf Club.
The format of the competition was, officially unveiled in a press conference, held on May 18.
The Nigerian Golf Federation will take part in this competition alongside their counterparts in Cameroon, with the legendary IBB International Golf and Country Club of Abuja as a special guest.
The golf jamboree is in line with its international cooperation program, that aims to develop strong relations with this brotherly country through the practice of golf.
In addition, FECAGOLF through this cooperation will respond favourably to the invitation to commemorate the independence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on October 01, 2023 in Abuja.
It is hoped that beyond sport itself, this golf friendship tournament will serve as a vector to foster the development and economic cooperation between Cameroon and Nigeria, and bring the diplomatic cycles of the two States closer together.
According to the President of the Cameroon Golf Federation, the teams will be made up of players who are members of golf
clubs in Cameroon, as well as golfers from the Nigerian delegation.
The captains will ensure that the games are composed in such a way as to reduce the difference to a minimum, in the number of strokes rendered to the weaker team per an 18-hole game. The highest handicap in these games will bem set at 24.
