Rangers FC Bafut have been suspended from participating in the 2024 edition of the Cup of Cameroon and it’s president Neba George Shu banned for five years from all football related activities.
The decision made public June 1, 2023 by the Homologation and Disciplinary Committee of FECAFOOT came as a result of Rangers FC Bafut absenting from their cup of Cameroon match against Union of Douala that was rescheduled to take place in Bafoussam last Sunday May 27.
The said match was earlier programmed to take place in Bandjoun. However, despite the presence of both teams, the match didn’t take place.
As regards the match, the Homologation and Disciplinary Committee took the following decisions:
– Rangers FC Bafut loses the match by forfeiture
– Union Sportive of Douala qualifies to the 16th final
– Rangers FC Bafut eliminated from the Cup of Cameroon
– Rangers FC Bafut eliminated from the 2024 edition of the Cup of Cameroon
Added to the above sanctions, Rangers FC Bafut have also been fined to pay to the Cameroon Football Federation the sum of five millions francs.
Also, their president, Neba George Shu has been banned from holding any position in any club affiliated to FECAFOOT for a period of five years.
It should be noted that Neba George Shu had been on the radar of the ethics committee of FECAFOOT after his media outings regarding the organisation of the elite two championship.
However, the parties concerned have 72 hours to appeal the decision.
