  • Fabrice Ondoa made three saves to ensure his clean sheet in the 3-0 win at home to Larne
  • The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations winner has kept two clean sheets in two outings so far for the club
  • FK Rīgas Futbola will travel to Ireland next week protecting a 3-0 advantage and hoping Ondoa keeps another clean sheet to earn qualification for the next round

Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Goalkeeper, Fabrice Joseph Ebogo Ondoa was scintillating on Wednesday as helped his Latvian club FK Rīgas Futbola Skola to a comfortable 3-0 win in the first-leg UEFA Champions League preliminaries cash against Irish side Larne.

The game which was Ondoa’s UEFA Champions League debut and second for the club was decided by goals from Mārtiņš Ķigurs, Daniels Balodis and Stefan Panić in a commanding display in front of the home fans at the LNK Sporta Parks.

The outstanding performance plus a very good input from 28-year-old Ondoa, who kept a clean sheet in his second outing for the club ensured a near perfect day for coach Vladimirs Žavoronkovs’ men who had 57% control of the active balls in the game.

Ondoa’s three saves at crucial moments of the game ensured was a clear explanation of the reason behind Rīgas Futbola Skola’s recent move to bring him on board just before the start of the competition.

The former Nimes, Sevilla B and Ostende goalie who came through Barcelona’s La Masia and even won the UEFA Youth Champions League with Barca B has kept two clean sheets in two outings since his switch to the club this summer from Nimes.

The first-leg game ended on the 3-0 score, making it four defeats in the last six away games Larne have played in the competition, and at the same time making ten wins in the last 11 home matches for Ondoa’s Rīgas.

The return-leg game will be played next week in Ireland to determine which of the two clubs progresses to the second preliminary phase of the competition.
